Rat Stew is a Boston-based art collective focused on bringing together music, art, and and non-profit organizations. We host events that highlight local music groups and artists while collecting proceeds for non-profit organizations that reflect the same values as us. Our past venues have ranged from friends' apartments to community centers, but we are always grateful to have a space to gather and share each other's work. Individually, we all had worked within the Boston DIY community to some capacity, but together we were able to create a space for our three respective interests and hobbies to live together.
Gus is passionate about all things rats, political science, and non-profit oriented. They've been studying at Emerson College for the last four years and are excited to begin teaching English in China after they've graduated.
Micaela is a visual and music artist with a side career in state politics. She hopes to blend her love for community organizing and story telling to create multifunctional spaces like Rat Stew. She believes at her core that all great change comes from connection and care. She’s celebrated for her skills in beeping and boping — though critics have pointed out her overall stonk.
Annika is a graphic designer who also found a love for art curation through Rat Stew. The Boston art and music community has greatly shaped her personal work, so the ability to work within the community and host shows has been a blessing and great learning experience. Annika has loved and nurtured Rat Stew as her baby and hopes to see it flourish on a professional level one day.
Mascot, Friend, Lover.
Twas' a slow afternoon at her work when Annika fell down a dreaded YouTube hole. Today's fascination: old Fear Factor videos. She watched bugs crawl over contestants and people willingly enter a locked coffin buried six feet under. Nothing quite shocked her until she landed on one video that left her gagging in her seat. Thus, Rat Stew was born.
